As you all have noticed, i find myself drawn to dresses and skirts oflate, I still have to figure out whats up with that. This day, I decided to do different shades of denim to achieve my monochromatic effect rather than matchy matchy. The skirt is a darker shade while the shirt was lighter. What i love mostly about the skirt is the wrap and midi length.
To break down the outfit from being too casual, i decided to add pops of color with the neon bib necklace, neon pink neckpiece that I used as a bracelet and earrings. I realised that when I tucked in the shirt, It looked frumpy, so I settled for a cropped looked and tied the shirt at the waist baring a little midriff.
The milky white sandals were a plus for me especially to add a twist to the outfit and some flirt to the whole ensemble

Happy new month y'all, amazing how fast the year has run, right? and I still cannot believe its December. Its that festive time of the year and for some the nostalgic time when guys are rewriting their resolutions for the next year. At the end of the day its all about us and what makes us happy and how to stay on track as we usher the next year. Oh well, as for fashion, it only recognises the seasons and the changes that come through it.
So, I woke up yesterday and I had no idea what to wear, well, 21st century girl problems. I came across this distressed skirt, i haven't worn it in a while, so i decided to go for a vintage look with the denim on denim trend.
I added on white YSL platforms and my geeks, held my extensions on the side and voila! there goes my simple vintage look.
The accessories were very minimal, and I chose not to dress the denim shirt but instead to go with a DIY ribbon chain. And a pop of color with the neon pink belt.
There you go darlings, Have yourself a fab month and cheers to the coming new year!

Happy easter dolls! Quite a long weekend it was and i loved everybit of it especially since I had to be with family....and actually had the chance to meet my great aunts, uncles, cousins.....t'was awesome. Since it was such an event, I went for a subtle yet respectable  look and hence dorned this Kitenge print tuxedo jacket from my designs.
I paired it up with these knife-pleated pallazo pants and my cropped white button up shirt. I accesorised the shirt with a vintage sun shaped brooch, added no more jewellery since the african is busy.
I finished the look with peach pumps and a matching belt. The sunglasses,, i totally love especially coz of the round structure and cat eyed edges.
The animal print detail on the inside of the shoe is adorbs.
Since I am always on a style prowl with my camera, I had to capture these looks below;
My lil' sister was looking all adorable in this batik bubble dress she designed for herself with black suede platforms.
My gorge cousin killed it with this polka dot blue and white dress, a red bold lip, yellow purse and gold flat peeptoes. She looked like she stepped out of a 70's movie scene.
Finally my baby sister in a grey frock, black tights and gladiator sandals

Honestly, I am obsessed with this summer trend......STRIPES. Not only are they adorable and chic, they add that bold and daring element to your look. I recently just bought these pants, ofcos I was concerned I might end up looking like a jailbird but the eclectic part of me had to have em.
I first spotted nautical vertical striped pants on Elle MacPhearson in the fashion star reality show and since then being hoping to get me a perfect pair. They are really dramatic trousers and definitely make a statement. I was concerned about looking like a jailbird but the eclectic side of to me won over so i had to add it in my closet.
I always find black and white goes well with bold hues so i went for the red cropped jacket and a bold bronze neck piece.

I kept the accessories to a minimal and added a non competing blue woven purse
I did a black tank and black booties so as not to compete with the stripes, then
a tangerine hair bow

Black and white is one of the biggest 2013 tend and I find myself subconsciously buying lots of it in my closet, so I fully intend to indulge in this trend fully. I came across this stripped maxi in my thrifting endeavours sometime in december and I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it. I believe every girl should have atleast one maxi in their wardrobe especially as a summer staple.Originally the dress was flared so i decided to  alter it a little bit at the bottom half and make it more pencil shaped.I went for the horizontal stripes as they tend to elongate my curves as am quite petite.
I went for the horizontal stripes as they enhance my curves as am quite petite. A  fitting maxi  is better than a tight hugging maxi as it may look tacky if care is not taken.
I went for a more demure and edgy feeling to dress it, the denim cropped jacket was to give it a more relaxed look. The black ankle brogues are just my favourite go to flatties. Well, most of my friends tend to find them quite ugly but i love the way they can change your look in a snap and i find them to be very stylish, vintagey and unique.
I went for pops of color in styling my hair to bring some ooommmph to the outfit. I did a combo of two scarves, orange with black polka and an electric magenta one. The accessories were minimal, a red and bronze pedant neckpiece and butter yellow loops.
The bag is a vintage from my mums 80's closet and am currently in love with these  avatars

Happy holydays everyone, isn't the festive season just out of this world....how are you spending your's? well for me its that time for  family and friends, the only time you give them endless attention and just relax and be at ease. Its during this season i decided to go all out with the 80's look, the hair and the whole outfit. Peplum dresses and tops were popular in the 1940s, and had a huge revival in the 1980s, so if you’re after a more 40s style you can often pick up 80s dresses for next to nothing at any flea markets or vintage shops  and you can make em to your taste and style and with the right hair and accessories they look amazing.
This electric green peplum dress was originally very long, so I decided to make it a party dress and made it shorter, take a look at my previous post, i made a scarf out of the extra material.
I really love this white croc skin peep toe platforms but i never get to wear them much.....they pretty high but suprisingly comfortable. I like the metallic pink heel.
I went for an 80's hah irdo.....i really love the big hair bun that i made, then complemented it with a crimson red lip and an emerald blue bib necklace.
I wanted a tiny briefcase-ish purse and this really went well my ka dress.
Finished it off with this white button earrings.

This my outfit for today, it was so cold in the morning so i decided to do this oversized fuschia blazer. It has become one of the must haves in  your closet and its easy as raiding your boyfriends closet. Its boxy and has an oversize cut, i tend to love them....they are a throwback to the 80's. Below is my polyvore of the outfit.....
I wore it over dark leggings and paired it with my BCBG max azria ankle boots, i heart the ruffle details at the front. I added the pearl strands for a more sophisticated look and white button earrings
I did a sheer black shirt dress inside with dainty ruffles, the buttoned it up because of the blazer.I have a petite frame so i felt it was quite overwhelming for me so i decided to cinch it with a navy blue belt to add a shapely silhoute
I finally paired it up with this turqoise green tote bag.....totally obsessed with the color if you have notice from my previous posts

Hey there fashionettes, a new week, a new day, i gotta spring to my step this monday.....well the weather is amaze.... its a 'moanday' but its bright, sunny and lovely. What other better way to get through than to get inspired. This is one of my most favourite looks todate. I grabbed these pants at my thrifting sessions, and with a squeal of joy  i could not believe my luck. I had been looking for such a unique pair everywhere, they are absolutely stunning. They were a perfect fit- they have to be worn a size up so as not to be clingy but just flowy and easy breezy. The way they billow as you walk... I felt like Michelle Pfieffer in
Scarface.

Palazzo pants add dramatic style to your wardrobe. Flowing wide-leg design gives you a fashion-forward look that's easy to wear. I wore this outfit for a business meeting then later on a day with my lovely cousins. They are comfy and flow nicely while also looking professional, which makes them great for days in the office. The green tie neck blouse brought  some seriousness to the outfit without making it too casual. I wanted to avoid being drammatic so i added nautical striped button earrings to the look and baby pink heels then a pop of color with the red and gold buckle.
The channel bag was a total steal and am so in love with it, you can dress it up or down to the office or just an everyday bag. I got the pants and blouse in machakos (yea u heard me).
The pleated accents add a sophisticated touch to the pants. Make sure the high rise sits on the natural waistline for a classic silhoutte

Happy belated new month y'all, i have been quite lost and i really missed blogging, i think i am getting the hang of it nowadays and its getting to be part of my daily do's. Have you ever felt like the days are just rushing and you have no idea how its happening? i have been in one of those lately, i still can't believe its August but am really looking forward for the sweet summer, i have incredible outfits to try on.  Its really a frustrating time as the weather is transitioning from cold to the summer especially if you get caught up in some impromptu rain showers you did not anticipate. Well this was one of those days i wasn't sure of the weather so i decided to go for this 60s inspired retro dress.
I liked it because of the vintagey feeling it exudes, the midi length and pleated bottom is so 1960s. I considered tailoring the length and making it shorter but was like nah.....i will go with it just as it is.
Thats why i paired it up with black tights and the high heeled brogues to add me some height otherwise flat shoes would make it look frumpy because of the heavy bottom of the dress. The fabric feels like a cotton blend and it has a cream colored attached collar and lapels on the sleeves and the bodice closes with a black colored button.
I kept the accessories simple and did white pearls, to add an elegant look for the whole outfit, my baby blue loops  and an amber orange chain bag. I roped my braids sideways to keep it simple. Well i got to say i was warm the rest of the day and i did not need a sweater, cover up or scarf and when the sun was out i was still cool because of the cotton fabric.

Pushing fashion to the limit is not for everyone, but if you eagerly embrace bright colours, big florals and bold graphics, then you can play around with the colors and have fun while at it. But i gotta warn you....this is a guarantee attention getter but it still makes you stand out and different in a good way.
I got this shirt dress while thrifting and i fell in love with the colors and print..i paired it up with magenta tights rather than the typical black. For an oufit like this, accessories must take a back seat so i kept it minimal with my yellow hoops, animal print geeks and my lace open toe ankle boots
Picture
The bag is a vintage from my mum's closet......The whole outfit is inspired by a passion for retro.

MY TIP:

Startling visuals are most flattering in a silhoutte with a relaxed not tight fit.

A bold lip color is welcome but nude is nice too just like i did
