The last few days, have been the hardest I have ever experienced in my life and It made me sit and evaluate my life in a way I have never done before. I lost the only grandma' I have ever known and It really shook me up because I was fortunate enough to take after her ethnic name and still be with her till the day she left for the hospital and passed on a few hours later. But on the morning of her burial, we got attacked by thugs at home and I really thought I would lose my brother as they mercilessy injured him, but a surgery later hes doing really well and I can only thank God for the far He's brought us.....Every new day I can only be grateful for the gift of life. In this post, its all about the dark moments gearing up to the grey shades and hopefully for the brighter days to come. All i can do is thank all my closest friends and family for being there for me through It all and for the strength this adversity has given us all and brought together my family.

Happy Friday my good people......mmmh the smell of the weekend just drifting and I could not be happier....you know what am talking about! Lets talk fashion....right? This is an outfit I wore last friday on my way to run a few errands....I have wrote about this maxi before in my blog archives,. so this time I decided to add a touch of boho and a lil' glam to it and brought in the cropped top with the pop of color and the accessories. I love how such a tops can change an outfit in a snap...I wore mine off shoulder for that peekaboo effect on the maxi. I had a thought to cinch it up at the waist but decided against it at the last minute. I held my hair up in a high pony to show off this gorge emerald green drop earrings and added this cobalt blue bib necklace. Finished it off with a bold red lip, black booties and this magenta satchel bag! CLOSET:

Chez Maureen! Hallo fashionettes...been a long minute right? Well my camera decided to die on me so I had to sit it out for a few days till i got a rescue. Anywho I've missed blogging and I pray there will be no more hiatus....so lets get to business....I have been meaning to try out the print on print trend and I got the chance yesterday as it was very sunny and summer-ish I was on my thrifting escapades when I saw this skirt....this chic was trying it on and oh my....was I wishing she would not buy it. So after a gruesome 30 minutes she finally let it go and trust me I jumped on it so fast the girl was puzzled......c'mon if you love shopping yo know what am talking about. The polka dot is so playful...it was a perfect fit and it was midi....what more could a girl ask for. I decided to take a fash risk and combine it with this animal print tee....I love its fit and its so ideal for the hot weather without being too sheer....I find it a lil' bit flirty. Basically...I went just for a simple tee with a skirt....Its amazing how much print can change an outfit. That's why I went for a solid hot pink pump to break the busy outfit and carried a white envelope clutch. I love playing around with this brooch and this time round I minimised a very bareback tee...I held it together to make some vavavum out of it and make it more comfortable for me to wear it....as I am very conscious about revealing too much skin. Anywho, I went for a high- low black sheer vest and denim jeans. The accessories were color popping, to add an ooomph to the dull outfit and make it more glam without doing too much! Am in love with this purple pinkish lipstick, I added the neon pink earrings to complement it The oversize floral purse...is a carry it all though....the arms tire very fast, its overly fit for most occasions even night events! Finally, the bronze ruffled peeptoe booties,I thought the peep toe would show some skin especially since i was basically covered up. CLOSET:

One of my current obcessions this season is simple t- shirts, I find them very versatile and playful. You can dress them up and down and still be super chic. I decided to do black and white pictures....to give you an illusion of its simplicity without the colors and all. I paired it up with drop waisted pencil pants, a satchel bag and simple pumps for a day of running errands. Well I cdn't leave you hanging no more.......heres a sneak peek of the outfit in color! I don't do preppy looks often but this time I decided to go all out and incorporate a bow tie and colored geeks. This was my Saturday wear for a friend's event and I totally love the pin striped white and blue blazer. The weather was a ishy with the sun getting hot and dull at the same time so it was a struggle to find the perfect lighting for the pictures I did a lil' bit color blocking with the crazy green button up shirt, green shorts and hot pink pointy pumps I balanced the craziness with a black patent purse CLOSET:

Cheers, ChezMaureen 2013 is all about bold patterns and the printed pants do not fall off the radar......I liked this floral pair but had quite some challenge getting the best blouse to go with it. I went for solid colors to balance off the noisy print......the pants are high waisted, so i did a white hi- lo button up shirt My accessories were very few.....a pearl DIY neck piece and a cobalt blue bib neckace then finished it off with patent black sling backs CLOSET:

Hello dolls.......I wore this ensemble some time last week. I decided to go for a simple tee and skirt for a very casual day. I played around with stripes my 2013 fave trend...the tee with medium horizontal stipes and the skirt's large vertical stripes. Then the tiny stripes on my strappy sandals I kept the accessories very minimal but color popping with the tangerine bow, red floral earrings , a cobalt blue butterfly belt and a simple black chain bag CLOSET:

Thats why I mixed different polka dots in this outfit, the black on white in the blouse and the white on teal in the shoes I have had these pants for a long time now, since '08 and i find them to be classic vintage and you can wear them in many different ways and they still don't go out of style. I have to confess am currently obcessed with these shoes.....oh so cute and these earrings, i find them to be just bold especially when i have my hair in a pony I finished it off with a crimson red chain bag and minimal accessories so as not to compete with the busy fabric CLOSET: Polka dot blouse- Thrifted Pants- Paulo's Polka dot wedges- Ericos collection Cross body bag- Machakos market Hair- Expression braid Coo Coo,
Chez Maureen The beauty of a tuxedo jacket its the versatility it brings to the table. This jacket can be worn from the formal day in the office to casual friday to the weekend with a pair of denim to literally anything else possible. This piece was originally masculine until the softer feminine vibe came into trend. What i love about mine is the houndstooth print on it. I find it tricky to wear the print so i decided to go for nudes and whites because of its busy print. I have had these pants for quite a while and they used to have suspenders until i chopped them off. I love the highwaisted feel to the them as they elongate my torso and shape it. Then i topped it off with my crimson envelope clutch. I tend to to find red complimenting prints that are black and white. CLOSET:
